Wildfires raged in the southwest of Western Australia, forcing residents to evacuate their homes.
Fires in Newlands, about 50 kilometers southeast of Banbury, broke out on Wednesday afternoon and an emergency wildfire warning was issued later in the day.
As of Thursday morning, the warning remained as the “unpredictable and uncontrollable” fire moved west.
The Washington State Department of Community has set up a shelter at the Donnybrook Recreation Center.
Firefighters from the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service, and Parks and Wildlife Service are on the scene, and volunteers from the State Emergency Service are also providing support.
Wildfire surveillance and action alerts have also been issued for areas east and west of the fire site.
