Tragic ending to desperate search for missing persons in Lake Macquarie

Police found a body during a search for a missing man on Lake Macquarie.

Mark Walker was last seen leaving Belmont Hospital on Crowders Bay Road around 3am on Tuesday.

When staff were unable to locate the 45-year-old man, the police were notified and officers began searching for him.

State Emergency Services, Surf Rescue, Fire, Rescue and PolAir assisted in the search.

Police found the body, believed to be Mr. Walker, on Valentine’s Day around 1:30 pm Wednesday.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
