Sydney man dies in gang-related shooting, police say

A man has been shot dead in southwest Sydney in what police sources say is suspected to be gang-related.

Police in the Liverpool City Police District found a man with gunshot wounds sitting in his car at 4pm.

Despite efforts to resuscitate him, he died at the scene on Hertfordshire Street in Elizabeth Hills.

The man is believed to be in his 20s, but police said they have not formally confirmed his identity.

ABC understands that this may have been a targeted attack.

A burnt-out car was found near Green Valley and is believed to be linked to the shooting.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation has begun, police said.
