Sydney boy dies after being trapped under a lift at school
A child has died at a school after being trapped under a lift in Sydney’s upper North Shore.
Emergency services were called to St Lucy’s, a primary and secondary school for students with disabilities in Wahroonga about 2pm.
Officers from the Ku-ring-gai Police Area found the 10-year-old boy trapped under the machine.
Fire and Rescue NSW attempted to remove the boy, however he died at the scene.
In a statement, the school said it would be closed to students until further notice.
“St Lucy’s is very sad to confirm the tragic death of one of our students this afternoon.
“We ask for privacy and space for our staff and families to grieve at this difficult time as we remember our beautiful student.”
A crime scene has been established and a recovery operation is underway.
