Perth, Port Kennedy: Wildfire emergency declared, threatens homes and livelihoods
Wildfires are threatening lives and homes in the Rockingham suburb of Port Kennedy, south of Perth.
An emergency wildfire warning has been issued for the area bounded by Bakewell Drive, Ennis Avenue, San Sebastian Boulevard and Port Kennedy Drive.
Surveillance and action are now also taking place in the wider area around the fire zone.

The fire broke out near the intersection of Bakewell Drive and Paxton Way just before 9:30 a.m. (AWST) on Thursday and flared up in the early afternoon as temperatures in the area climbed into the low 30s.
Fifty-five Career Fire Rescue Service, Volunteer Fire Rescue Service, and Volunteer Fire Rescue Service firefighters are actively fighting the blaze, with air support being sent to assist ground crews.
The fire is now stationary, but remains out of control.
