Man shot dead in car in west Sydney

A man was shot dead Monday afternoon while he was sitting in his car on a street in Sydney’s western suburbs.

Emergency services were dispatched to Hertfordshire Street in Elizabeth Hills around 4pm after receiving a call that a shot had been fired.

A shooting occurred in Elizabeth Hills on Monday afternoon.

Arriving officers from the Liverpool City Police Regional Command found a man sitting in his car with multiple gunshot wounds, a New South Wales Police spokesman said.

Despite the efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene.

Police believe the man is in his 20s, although his official identity has yet to be revealed.

A crime scene has been established and homicide detectives are investigating whether the two cars found shortly after the shooting were connected.

Ten minutes after the shooting, a car was found on Bluff Street in Green Valley, about a six-minute drive away.

A second car was spotted minutes later on Lewis Street in Bonnyrigg Heights, a seven-minute drive from the shooting site.

A spokesman for the New South Wales Police said it was too early to say whether the fires were related but would be under investigation.
