Diamonds take series win in Sydney as Australia beat England 56-48
The Australian Diamonds continued their stellar 2022 campaign with a 56-48 win in Game 2 in Sydney to clinch a three-match series win over England.

A crowd of 14,117 in Sydney saw Australia lead for most of Sunday’s game.
After winning the Quad Series in January, the Commonwealth Games in August and the Constellation Cup in October, the Diamonds wrapped up their series before the final in Brisbane on Thursday.
Wing defenseman Amy Parmenter was named man of the match after a hard-working display, although Australia had strong players on all lines.

The Roses held a one-goal advantage in the early stages, but split four and five goals to set Australia a 16–11 quarter-time lead.
England coach Jess Thirlby made the change in the second quarter, with Leila Guscos joining Francesca Williams in goal defense.
Within six and a half minutes of the second quarter, England equalized after a 5–0 run.
But once again Australia claimed in the final minutes of the quarter, outscoring the Roses 7-3 and leading 28-24 at half time.
Thirlby ridden midcourt at halftime, bringing in Imogen Allison on the wing defense and switching Laura Malcolm from that position to center in place of Jade Clarke.
Diamond coach Stacey Marinkovic made one change at halftime, replacing center Jamie Lee Price with Game 2 Most Valuable Player Maddie Proud.
However, Proud was accidentally hit in the head by teammate Austin’s elbow and was replaced by Price with just over a minute left in the quarter.
Thirlby made further changes in the third quarter, replacing captain and wing attacker Natalie Metcalf with Hannah Joseph and bringing in veteran defender Geba Mentor as goalkeeper for Fanmi Fadju.
England trailed by two in the third quarter, but the home side again scored five goals to set a 42-34 buffer heading into the final period.
Clarke and Williams were back on court for the final quarter, but England were unable to bring the deficit below five.
