Hume refuses to collect fuel excise tax

shadow finance minister Jane fume have Refused to say whether she supports extending cuts to the fuel excise taxends Wednesday night during an interview with ABC Insider.

She said the coalition’s policy when she was in government was to support it as a temporary measure, but now it’s the decision of the Labor government.

This temporary excise tax cut was welcomed by Australians who felt a pinch in their pockets.

In my view, the government will make the decision. What is needed is to address other cost of living pressures facing Australians.

She also said that the Union Remaining in favor of government changes to childcare subsidies And the new Federal Fairness Commission bill to be introduced in Congress this week.

On childcare, Hume said the opposition wanted to “check out” whether the measure would improve productivity and participation.

Above integrity billshe said the opposition supports “anything that eradicates corruption in public life.”

We have always said that we support the federal government’s implementation of Icac. This is a very important law to get right. I have yet to see the details of the labor bill, so I have a question.

Will there be procedural fairness and natural justice? Will the hearings be public for the sake of privacy?

Hume said she was Involved hearings could be weaponized And this may deter good people from entering public life.

that would be a disaster. We want the brightest people to join us, but just because we can politicize accusations of corruption puts them at risk to their professional reputations, their bank balances, their lives and livelihoods. Why would anyone go into public if the risk exists?

Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marless Australia has said it is preparing to assist Ukraine in a lengthy war with Russia and will continue to provide military support.

he also has Condemned the nuclear threat posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin as “terrible”. Marles told Sky News:

We understand that Ukraine will need help for the long term. [and] That’s exactly how I feel when I’m in Europe and talk to NATO countries like Germany, Great Britain and France. All of these countries recognize that this is a long-term effort and that the importance of standing with Ukraine and allowing Ukraine to resolve this issue on its own terms is of fundamental importance. is aware of

The Russian attacks we’ve seen, and certainly the comments from Vladimir Putin we’ve seen in the last few days, speak for Russia’s actions, so we can’t just let it sit.

He said Putin’s remarks had caused “unrest” and said his decision to mobilize 300,000 reserve troops was “a step in the completely wrong direction”.

They make horrible comments. I mean, putting that possibility on the table is obviously scary.

Russia must stop, Russia must leave Ukraine. I think it all speaks to what I have seen in Russia over the last few days, the scenes of obvious pain of those who are leaving the country, of those who have been called up and asked to serve in the Russian army. Public opinion is actually within Russia.

Marles said Australia must “stand with Ukraine” and will continue to provide military support in response to the country’s demands for more vehicles and missiles.

We are working with the Ukrainian government to explore ways to provide long-term support.

It didn’t take long…

The Shorter Coalition, channeled through Jane Hume, said, “We don’t have a policy. We are against it.”

Getting Integrity Commission Laws Wrong Has ‘Disastrous Consequences’

Above integrity committeeHume is asked whether she supports a body with hearings – a key point of contention.

She says the coalition will support “anything that eradicates corruption in public life.” But she said she would wait to see Labor’s bill before clarifying the opposition’s position.

We have always said that we support the federal government’s implementation of Icac. This is a very important law to get right. I have not yet seen the details of the Labor bill and would like to ask you a question. Is there procedural fairness and natural justice? Will the hearing be public or private? when will they be one or the other?

Hume: Coalition Won’t Take Back EV Tax Cuts

Hume is Asked whether the opposition would support Labor’s attempt to increase child care subsidiesshe says:

We believe that childcare is a huge cost and a very important service for many Australian families. Those who made the biggest reforms, actually reduced the cost of childcare, and whose families were working especially those who were studying and volunteering.

She says they will wait to see Labor Party legislation before deciding whether to offer assistance.

But Hume isn’t so clear about his plan to cut taxes on electric vehicles.

We do not support the law because it is really poor policy. Electric vehicles, his FBT cuts on electric vehicles, the government could not explain whether it would actually reduce emissions. The industry has been unable to explain whether it will pick up electric vehicles. The cost of failing to prove the effectiveness of policy decisions is enormous, in the billions of dollars.

Coalition says ‘2019-20 budget is inherently balanced’: Hume

Hume is asked if he accepts that the Union has left the budget in a structural deficit. she says:

Not at all. In fact, in 2019, there was a time when we were in government that made sure we had budget offsets for new spending and grew the economy. We were able to reduce taxes, and the 2019-20 budget was basically balanced.

She said that despite the $30 billion deficit, it had “a credible plan to get back into the black.”

after forward [estimates]but it was a reliable plan to get back into the black.

Hume calls on Labor to cut spending

Hume is asked about what Australia should avoid going into recessionfollow her US leader predictions. I will.

She was asked if the government should cut fiscal spending. Hume replies:

Well, the Labor government came to government with the promise of a higher deficit than the coalition government. In fact, $45 billion of off-balance sheet spending and he promised $18 billion of on-balance sheet spending. Consider whether it’s a good idea to go ahead with the Labor government when it considers priorities, unwinds fiscal priorities and unwinds fiscal wishlists to ensure fiscal policy is aligned I think it’s time for your monetary policy to be a better solution.

When we were in government, we controlled spending and grew the economy while cutting taxes.

‘We have no policy’: shadow finance minister

In an ABC insider interview, Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume made a rather interesting claim.

She was pressed over whether to support a temporary fuel excise tax that the coalition would end. She said it was current Labor Party policy to control.

she said:

We have no policy, we are the opposition, not the government.

This will be news to many, including Insider host David Speers.

Well, we have an old-age pension policy.
