Driver charged with Anzac bridge double fatal smash

Police have charged a man with the deaths of two drivers who collided on the Anzac Bridge while exchanging details after a minor fender bend.

The 41-year-old Burwood man was arrested Saturday night after being released from hospital for treatment for minor injuries.

A male Commodore sedan slammed into two cars that had stopped for a minor collision late Friday night, killing a 25-year-old woman in Lidcombe and a 38-year-old man in Hurstville.

Police said the two were believed to be exchanging details after their initial clash.

A passing taxi driven by a 24-year-old man from Westmead was also hit by a vehicle as it was pushed into the third lane.

The Burwood man was charged with deadly dangerous driving, dangerous driving, and deadly negligent driving.

He was denied bail to appear at the Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
