NBA Teams to Win the Championship After Round 1

The first round of the NBA Playoffs is all in the books as we are in the Eastern and Western Conference Semifinals so there are eight teams left in the picture. However, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid suffered an orbital fracture and tanked the team’s championship odds.

A big thing in betting on basketball is looking at the point spreads and understanding what they are telling you. Let’s dive into these teams and determine where we should be placing our bets.

Today, we are going to dive into the odds for the top three teams and figure out if they are good odds for their chances. All odds are courtesy of DraftKings so depending on the sportsbooks you choose, it could change.

Phoenix Suns (+290)

The Phoenix Suns are currently listed as the favorites to win the NBA Championship after defeating the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round of the playoffs. They are going to be playing against the Dallas Mavericks in the second round and should be able to win here as they have a solid backcourt and some experience.

Devin Booker is healthy after dealing with some hamstring injuries that forced him to miss a few games in the first round.

The Suns have a great slew of rotational players and have the ability to do well throughout the postseason. Chris Paul provides veteran leadership and can take control of a game for a while. Center DeAndre Ayton has to step up but these teams in the West do not have dominant big men to control the paint so they have an advantage there.

Golden State Warriors (+300)

The Golden State Warriors have a lot to be excited about as they are healthy and have the championship core to do extremely well. They will be facing the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round of the Western Conference Playoffs and should be able to dominate here against an inexperienced team.

Point guard Stephen Curry, shooting guard Klay Thompson, and shooting guard Jordan Poole all averaged at least 20 points per game in the first round.

The offense is doing incredibly well as they lead the postseason with 118 points per game and are third with 6.2 blocks per game. They have arguably the best coach in the postseason remaining in Steve Kerr and should be able to dominate.

Go with the Golden State Warriors at +300 to go and win this championship.

Boston Celtics (+340)

The Boston Celtics just did something no one expected: sweep the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the postseason. Now, they match up with the third-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the postseason.

The Celtics are third in the playoffs with 113.5 points per game scored and with suffocating defense being the name of the game, it will be tough to imagine anyone stopping them.

They play a physical brand of defense and that should really help. Boston has the Defensive Player of the Year in Marcus Smart and have seven rotational players, including small forward Jayson Tatum, that are willing to buy in on the defensive side of the floor and dominate.

They make things difficult and will force mistakes on the opposing star player and make the role players have to beat them. The Boston Celtics should end up being the Eastern Conference team in the NBA Finals and have a legitimate shot at winning the NBA Championship this season.

Conclusion

Golden State and Boston should make the NBA Finals and we are getting some decent value there. The Eastern Conference seems like it will be Miami vs Boston in the ECF but Miami is not going to match up well as they do not have a player that can dominate for a handful of games.

The West is more up in the air but the injuries that can happen in Phoenix’s backcourt make them an easier target and the Grizzlies are too inexperienced after a tough time with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Be smart and we can make some money here.
