In a NYPD statement AgePolice claimed that DeGoey “grabbed the buttocks and vagina outside of clothing without the permission or authority of a 35-year-old woman.”

He was also charged with assault, allegedly “beating with a closed fist and kicking a 37-year-old man, causing pain and swelling.”

AFL has approved Collingwood’s decision to resign DeGoey while the issue is legally underway. However, unlike NRL’s “No Obstacle Standdown Policy,” AFL does not have automatic suspension or comprehensive rules for players facing serious billing.

So what we know about the charges in New York and the punishments that De Goy may face if convicted are:

Forced contact

According to New York Senate law, compulsory contact involves squeezing, grabbing, or pinching.

A person is guilty of being forced to touch him in the following cases:

1. Forcibly touching another person’s sexual or other intimate parts for the purpose of corrupting or abusing others, or for the purpose of satisfying the actor’s sexual desires.Also

2. With the intention of corrupting or abusing another person while he or she is a passenger on a bus, train, or subway car operated by transportation, authorities, for the purpose of satisfying the actor’s sexual desires. A company that exposes others to sexual contact or is permitted to operate by New York State or its political subdivision, whether public or private.

If Degoy is convicted, he faces up to one year’s imprisonment for a Class A minor offense.

If guilty, as the first offender, De Goy could escape prison time and instead be put on a six-year probationary period. He can also be forced to perform social service.

Degoy’s alleged assault probably falls into the third category. The suspected victim suffered from swelling but did not require treatment.

Another class A misdemeanor, the maximum sentence is one year in prison and the probationary period is three years. There can be a combination of these sanctions and punishments.

De Goy has been stuck indefinitely by Pai while waiting for the outcome of the criminal procedure.
