Former Manly Sea Eagles player Brett Stewart charged with cocaine possession

Retired NRL star Brett Stewart has been charged with cocaine possession after being stopped by police on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

The former Manly Sea Eagles fullback, who was once the face of rugby league, is set to face charges of possession of banned substances later this month.

A New South Wales police officer patrolling the Manly neighborhood just before 7pm on Friday, March 10 spoke to the 38-year-old Stewart before searching for him.

A police statement said: “While searching for the man, they are said to have found cocaine.

“He was charged with possession of a prohibited substance.”

Stewart won the Premier League twice, made 233 appearances for the Sea Eagles and earned the title of ‘Prince of Brookvale’ before retiring in 2017.

He also played eight State of Origin games throughout his career.

Stewart is currently listed as a Mentor Positional Coach on the Manly Sea Eagles website.

He will appear in Manly District Court on April 19.
