Victorians have been warned of future Covid-19 restrictions after the state has recorded six new local infections.
Acting Prime Minister James Merlino said Wednesday morning that the next 24 hours would be important and authorities “cannot rule out further action.”
“The next 24 hours will be important,” he told reporters.
“I’m not going to foresee what these changes are or aren’t.
“It will depend on what will happen in the next 24 hours and advice from the public health team.”
Merlino said all 15 northern suburban clusters were relevant and could be traced back to a violation of the Playford Hotel in South Australia. This was a “good thing”.
But he said, “We are concerned about the number and type of exposed sites.”
Authorities have identified 301 close contacts in the northern suburban cluster and have so far tested 80 of those people as negative.
Merlino also said they “noticed” an extra local incident. That is, the state recorded six new infections on Wednesday.
After several local cases of coronavirus were detected this week, the city was on the edge, alerting people who visited football games at MCG.
Victorian health officials have sent a late-night update warning tens of thousands of potentially infected fans.
The case who participated in the game was sitting in Zone 4, Level 1 (the end of the stand’s punt road) on the Great Southern Stand.
According to Victoria Health, those sitting in Zone 4, Level 1, that is, those who have a bay between M1 and M16 on their match tickets, will be directly advised to take the test and isolate until negative.
