France concedes 6 tries in the second half of Women’s Six Nations | Women’s Six Nations lose to Scotland

France scored nine tries and six in the second half in a 55-0 victory over Scotland to extend their third straight win in the Women’s Six Nations.

After a hard-fought first period at Vannes, France went into the break 17-0 with tries from Pauline Bourdon, Mélisande Llorence and Emily Boulard. The hosts thought they scored the opening try just five minutes after Charlotte Escudero fell, but were ruled out for a forward pass in the build-up.

After a series of passes allowed Bourdon to compete across the line, it didn’t take long for France to finally get to the opener, but Jesse Trémurière missed the conversion. Llorens helped double France’s lead and just before half-time scored the third try in a similar manner to the first as Boulard broke through and scored.

Scotland put up a ferocious fight back in the first half, but the home side rioted in the second half. Boulard scored a hat-trick alongside captain Gaël Hermé and scored along with tries from Gabriel Vernier, Romane Menager and Maël Philopont.

France’s procession in the second half began when Boulard scored his second touchdown six minutes into the interval before Hermé collected a pass from Llorens to take a 29–0 lead. Vernier forced a landing after an upfield break from Elmet before Boulard completed his hat-trick.

France were not finished, with Menager set up by his twin sister Marin and Philoponn closing out the scoring from Vernier’s passout. France have overtaken Wales, are within a points lead of England and are likely to clinch the title when the two sides meet in the final round at Twickenham.
