The Vax deadline for one million Vic staff has passed

Approximately one million Victorian workers must be fully vaccinated to continue working after a major vaccination deadline overnight.

Everyone on the state’s list of certified workers had to be vaccinated twice with the COVID-19 vaccine by Friday, November 26th.

The industries on the list include AFL and other professional athletes, lawyers, journalists, mining workers, court staff, and personal trainers.

This is because the Services Vic app has been updated to allow parents and guardians to add vaccination certificates for their children.

Previously, parents had to carry printed matter to prove that children under the age of 14 had been vaccinated to go to non-essential retail stores, events, and other places.

However, the app now allows you to add dependents, so you can include your child’s digital vaccination certificate as a parent or guardian.

Foster parents can also add their child’s certificate to the app as long as they have access to their child’s Medicare account.

Young people over the age of 14 can have their own Medicare account, so they can share digital certificates with the Services Vic app just like adults.

Victoria crossed the major vaccination threshold on Thursday, with more than 90% of all people over the age of 12 fully vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health announced late Thursday that the state’s domestic travel permit and traffic light system had been terminated, allowing anyone in all states and territories to enter the country, regardless of vaccination status.

Deputy Chief Health Officer Ben Kawi said the permit, introduced in January 2021, was “designed for some time before vaccination” to prevent the invasion of the virus from other states and territories. rice field.

“Currently, we are a highly vaccinated society, with few cases on interstate highways and much lower risk,” he said.

Victoria still has active COVID-19 cases in the community, with 1254 new infections reported Thursday, but the ministry said the permit system was “no longer a proportional response.”

This change means that international travelers who have completed quarantine in another state after the border bubble has ended do not need a permit.

However, international arrivals and crew must comply with the permit terms.
