The Lakers followed up on the 0-6 pre-season, with the regular season starting 0-2.
Recent losses fell into the hands of Phoenix Suns on a difficult night at Staples Center.
Frustration increased in the second quarter, the situation boiled during the time-out, playing at 3:13 in the first half and the Lakers ending at 49-41.
When ESPN broadcasts returned from the commercial, the replay showed that Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard needed to be separated on the bench by teammates and staff.
Davis still seemed to be talking to his teammates, but the pair eventually split.
Sands will finish the quarter with an 8-3 run to take a 57-44 lead for a half-time break.
Howard denied that the case would be a problem for progress.
“We crushed it on the spot. We had a disagreement about something on the floor,” Howard said.
“We are very passionate about winning. We didn’t want to lose to this game. We didn’t get in the way. We’re grown-up men, things happen. It’s me. Brother, it’s my teammate. That’s what I told him. We’re fine, we crushed it, you don’t have to try to make it bigger. “
The Lakers duo may have resolved their differences quickly, but it didn’t help the scoreboard team. Phoenix was leading more than 30 points on one stage. Head coach Frank Vogel was insensitive to his assessment of the case between Davis and Howard.
“Kicking your ass can make conversations hot. They love each other,” Vogel said.
That wasn’t the only evidence of overnight frustration. Vogel picked up a technical foul and fans slammed Rondo’s hand on the sideline to remove it from the courtside seat. It was a strange night in many ways, and Vogel dismissed the idea that there would be problems moving forward.
“We want to be 2-0, but that’s not the case. That’s it.”
The Lakers bench incident ignited Twitter with the addition of franchise legend Magic Johnson.
“Dwight Howard and AD have become a physical quarrel on the bench … I haven’t seen anything like that for 42 years in relation to the Lakers organization,” Johnson tweeted.

The Lakers’ attempt to pour cold water into the evening event is unlikely to slow down the debate, and the team is still looking for their first victory as a group.
Next up is Memphis Grizzlies at Staples Center on Sunday night.
