Telethon 2021 kicks off with the amazing opener of The Wizard of Oz.

Telethon was a huge success, with some of WA’s favorite sports, television and music stars working together to raise money for WA’s most ill children.

The annual fund-raising activity started with a fuss at the Crown Theater as telephone lines opened and donations began to come in.

The Wizard of Oz cast has begun a 26-hour broadcast with powerful performance.

Producer Marina Del Basso said the cast was “excited” to join Telethon.

“It’s great to be part of something for the community,” she said.

“Many of our cast grew up here in Washington and saw Telethon grow … that’s a very important cause.”

The lineup for the rest of the night is great.

Birds of Tokyo frontman Ian Kenny and bandmate keyboard player Glenn Saranpaany will be on stage for an intimate acoustic performance. This is followed by vocalist Amy Manford and Perth’s band End of Fashion.

Viewers expect WA’s biggest name roll calls, including Wildcats legend Jesse Wagstaff, Dockers advocate Janel Cuthbertson, sports stars such as the Paralympics, and former Telethon star Ben Popham. I can do it.

In 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the broadcast of the program was split in two. But this year, the popular 26-hour broadcast is back.

Host and Channel 7 presenter Basil Zempiras promised the audience to remember Telethon.

“We’re back with 26 hours of luxury, and it all starts right now,” he said.

“Great shows, lots of surprises, great guests.”
