Team 18 Pairs for Sharing Cars in Winton Test

By Josh Nevett

Team 18 will be testing at the Winton Raceway today, despite having only one supercar.

Scott Pai’s # 20 Holden ZB Comodoa was severely damaged in an incident with Jawaharlal Nehru at the Wannell Raceway about a week ago and had to put his car on a jig at Walkinshaw Andretti United.

The car will be repaired in time for the Winton Super Sprint from May 21st to 22nd, but will not be available for testing.

As a result, Pai and Mark Winterbottom are forced to share the latter # 18 Commodore today and will cut the lap at the venue for the next Supercars Championship round.

Participating in Team 18 Pairs will be the Triple Eight Race Engineering Driver Brock Finney, who will complete the rookie test. As a customer team, Team 18 has access to Triple Eight resources throughout the day.

Other Victorian teams will also be attending Winton today, running some important tracks before the Winton Super Sprint.

“It’s not an ideal situation to drive to Winton in one car, but there’s no doubt that you’ll get the most out of it,” said Team 18 owner Charlie Schwarcolt.

“I think most, if not all, Victorian teams are testing, so I think there are more benefits to testing some new parts before the next race.

“It will be a whole day as Frosty will do most of the drive and Scott will jump in and win a lot of laps.

“With the full crew waiting, it will be a busy day with lots of things to throw in the car.

“It’s great to be with Brock Finney, who has a garage next to Triple Eight and also rarely has the opportunity to test, which only strengthens our relationship with them.

“We keep an eye on each other and share data and resources so that a lot of things are happening between us.”
