Family of couple killed in murder allegations release statement

Forensic investigators and officers from the police homicide squad spent all of Monday examining the property, entering through the side gate and carrying brown evidence bags.

They later searched two cars that had been parked outside the house, and a police chaplain briefly visited the property.

A Washington State Police spokeswoman said officers from major crime divisions were investigating the circumstances of the death.

“At this stage, it is believed that there is no third party involvement or danger to the community,” she said.

“A large police presence remains at the scene, including detectives and forensic officers.

“Washington State Police continue to provide support and assistance to families, friends, and first responders affected by this tragic incident.”

Neighbor Tony Scottney Turville said he and his wife were close friends with the Zielink family, who moved here from South Africa many years ago, and had two daughters and a grandson.

“We don’t know what happened. It’s just painful seeing all the police here and not knowing what’s going on,” he said.

Scottney-Turbill said he saw Arnie sitting alone at a local shopping center on Friday. He later asked for a lift up to the house, which Scottney Turville said was rare.

“He looked a little vague,” he said.

“He was there alone and didn’t have a car that was a little different than usual.”

Scottney-Turbill said Arnie worked for Alcoa, but after a workplace accident, he quit and took a position as a driver for a non-profit disability organization. However, he had retired six months before him.

Linda was a semi-retired teacher who worked several days a week at a local school.

He said the couple were very religious and attended a nearby Baptist church every Saturday.
