Stolen vehicle related to Queensland Missing Person

The stolen car is associated with the suspicious disappearance of a man in southwestern Queensland.

Queensland Police are seeking information about the White Ford Focus (registered 600 SZJ) as part of a search for the 27-year-old Jeremiah Alivers, who went missing last month.

Mr. Rivers was last seen around 9:30 am on October 18, near Whippo Creek, about 20 km south of Noccachunga.

Detective deputy director Stephen Blanchefield says it was seen in the southwest after Ford Focus was stolen from the Sunshine Coast and Rivers went missing.

Cars with at least two crew members were found in Miles and Thargomindah (the latter 90 minutes drive from Noccundra) and were involved in the drive-off of gas stations on October 18 and 19, respectively.

Det Blanchefield said the vehicle was stolen 24 hours before Mr Rivers went missing.

“It ended up in the southwestern region, which is interesting to us because it’s unusual for a car stolen from the Sunshine Coast to do,” he said.

“We are very interested in the people who saw or were in the vehicle.

“There is no suggestion that Jeremiah knows these people at this stage, but it is interesting to us that the car moves from the Sunshine Coast to Sagomida.”

Ford Focus has since been located in Coomera and has been confiscated.

After playing AFL, Rivers disappeared while camping with six others when he returned to Darwin from Balranald in Libarian, New South Wales.

Det Blanchefield said a Queensland murder investigator is working with police in Victoria and New South Wales to interview all the remaining members of Rivers’ camp group.

He said some members had not yet been talked to the two members after being tested positive for COVID-19 and quarantined.

Police have completed a search of the Whippo Creek area, but members of Mr Rivers’ family have traveled from Western Australia and NT to continue looking for him.

Mr. Rivers is about 185 cm tall, has a slim figure, and has a crucifix tattoo under his right arm.

He was finally seen wearing red Chicago Bulls NBA singlets, red adidas sneakers, and black jeans.

Police urged anyone with information to contact Policelink at 131444 or CrimeStoppers at 1800333000.
