After months of speculation, the battle has finally begun.

It takes place in Sydney and Williams is trying to extend his eight-game undefeated record against the hole he said was “near anywhere in my class.”

“For the first time in my professional sports career, I’m completely focused on boxing,” Williams said.

“Barry Hall is a very hard guy and his debut proved he has a ton of skill, but he has no experience in the ring and is far from my class level. is.

“The fight against this hole begins the final chapter of my sports career. I will win this victory and move on to a bigger fight over the next 24-36 months.”

Hall, who drew with Paul Gallen in the final battle in 2019, said Williams had never faced “anyone of my size or skill.”

“I showed Paul Gallen that I could go far and hard,” Hall said.

“Sony is a very talented individual, but I’ve never faced anyone of my size or skill. Young people have put everything on a silver platter in their boxing career so far.

“Sonny Boy failed this fight. I’m going to finish his boxing career and open up a bigger fighting opportunity for myself.”

Williams, the representative of the All Blacks and the winner of the Dual NRL Premiership, is the more experienced boxer of the two.

He won all eight of his professional matches, most recently defeating Waikato Falefehi with a unanimous decision last June.

Prior to that, Williams hadn’t fought since 2015. Instead, in the late 2010s, he chose to focus on his career in rugby unions and leagues.

Hall, captain of the Sydney Swans at the 2005 AFL Premiership, has only fought professionally once before in a draw with Garen.

Despite his inexperience, the four-time All-Australian gained a reputation as a tough guy during his AFL era.

He hit Brentstaker on his chin during the 2008 season between Sydney and the West Coast, knocked out the Eagle, and was suspended for seven games.
