An anchored boat was engulfed in flames near Sydney Harbor.

The small ship was burning in Lily Field’s Le Montage as the spectators grabbed images and photos of the flames firing into the sky and the swirling smoke from a lethargic boat.

According to a New South Wales Fire Department spokesman, it was raging 30 meters offshore, too far for firefighters to try to save the ship.

“The small boat was well off 30 meters offshore, but not near the other boats,” said a spokesman.

“I didn’t get the hose, so I got there using a Port Authority boat. The water police were on the scene.”

All firefighters’ attempts to save the boat were in vain.

“It sank,” said the spokesman.

He said the boat owner was talking to the paramedics, but no one needed medical assistance.

“There is no mention of needing an ambulance despite being on the scene,” he said.
