Pakistan military helicopter crash kills 6

A Pakistan Army helicopter carrying a senior commander and five others crashed into a mountain during a flood relief operation, killing everyone on board.

An Army Aviation helicopter supporting flood relief efforts in Balochistan lost contact with air traffic control on Monday.

“The accident was caused by bad weather,” the military said in a statement.

The wreckage was found in a mountain in the Rasbera district, senior state police officer Pervez Umrani told Reuters.

Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali, commander of the South Pakistan-based 12th Corps, was also killed, according to the military.

After unusually heavy monsoon rains, southern Pakistan flooded, killing dozens and washing away hundreds of homes.
