Outbreaks of ACT spread with another 19 Covid infections recorded

ACT recorded 19 new Covid infections, leading to 121 outbreaks.

Of those numbers, 17 are linked and two are under investigation.

On Saturday, the territory recorded eight new cases, all associated with known infections and all quarantined.

ACT Prime Minister Andrew Barr described this number as “good progress.”

However, ACT Chief Health Officer Kerin Coleman pointed out that Saturday numbers did not include cases recorded after 8 pm and warned residents not to celebrate yet.

“All cases that occur after 8 pm overnight are included in tomorrow’s number of cases,” said Dr. Coleman.

“(This) means that today’s cases (numbers) are probably a bit artificially few, and tomorrow will probably return to what we saw yesterday or the day before.”

As a result of the blockade, the Floriade and Nightfest at the ACT Festival have been cancelled.
