MIA’s latest fire department is in operation. On Wednesday, the New South Wales Regional Fire Department celebrated the opening of a brand new fire department for the Widgelli-Umbrugal Brigade. The $ 240,000 station has space for two tankers, a training room, an amenity room, a storeroom, a kitchen, and concrete pads for training and truck cleaning. Group captain John Payne says both the brigade and the community will benefit from the new facility. “It has great facilities. It has a shower, toilet, kitchen, air conditioning and TV. It’s a great facility,” said Captain Payne. “This is a great community asset. It’s useful not only for RFS, but also for community events.” Widgelli and Wumbulgal’s fire brigade were previously operated separately, but acting area commander Paul Jones said in part. This is likely to be the first time a firefighter has been operating from a full-fledged station, he said. “Before the new station was built, brigade tankers were stored in nearby facilities and brigade meetings were held in member huts and garages,” said Sapt Jones. “We are confident that this new building will be greatly welcomed by everyone and will support vehicle containment, training and local fire extinguishing activities.” “For training purposes, it will be available to other brigades in the area.” The station was built with the support of both the Griffith City Council and the Leaton Shy Council. Other News: Members of Murray Helen Dalton, Mayor Griffith John Dal Broy, and other council staff attended the opening. Mayor Dalbroy said the fire department is a perfect example of successful parliamentary cooperation. “Cooperation between the Griffith Council and Leaton is not common, but this is just the perfect example of what we can achieve when we work together,” said Mayor Dalbroy. “We have provided modern, state-of-the-art facilities with excellent modern facilities. That is a great achievement.” Our journalists provide the community with the latest news about the region. I’m working hard for that. To access trusted content:
