Monica Lewinsky wants Beyoncé to remove references to her from one of her old songs.
The former White House intern famously had an affair with then-President Bill Clinton, a scandal that led to his impeachment in 1998. After the 40-year-old star promised, the singer had a 2013 hit Suggested that the song partition should change the lyrics… remove the disabled slur from her new song Heated.
Lewinsky, who tweeted a Variety article about the change to the new song, wrote:
The song in question contains lyrics such as: “Now my mascara is running and my red lipstick is smearing/Oh I’m so horny, yeah he wanna fuck/He popped all my buttons and he’s my blouse / He put it all in his Monica Lewinsky-my gown.
This isn’t the first time Lewinsky has challenged the song’s lyrics.
She said in 2014:
The former intern’s comments came after Beyoncé promised to change the lyrics to “Heated,” which she co-wrote with Drake.
The lyrics were branded “offensive” and “disabled” due to their use of the word spaz, a derogatory term for spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy.
“Words not intentionally used in a harmful way will be replaced,” Beyoncé’s rep said.
British disability advocacy group Sense initially said it was “disappointed” that Beyoncé was “using offensive language” towards her son and called for “further education to raise awareness of disability”. .
They praised her for agreeing to change the lyrics.
