Gold Coast helicopter crash victim Nicholas Tadros remains in the spotlight as Catholic community prays for 10-year-old boy’s recovery

About 200 family and friends of a 10-year-old boy fighting for his life in a helicopter crash prayed for his survival at a mass in Western Sydney.

Nicholas Tadros took off with his mother, Vanessa Tadros, 31, on a Sea World Joy Flight when he was hit by another helicopter that was about to land.

Tadros died, as did pilot Ashley Jenkinson and a British couple who were on vacation.

At St. Padre Pio’s Church in Glenmore Park, where Nicholas received communion, parishioners celebrated Catholic Mass for the boy and his grieving father.

A fifth grade classmate at Bethany Catholic Elementary School was offered a brown armband to wear during worship in recognition of Nicolas’ recent brown belt in karate.

Father Suresh Kumar told the congregation that the tragedy was a reminder of the uncertainty of life.

“There are some things in our lives that we cannot explain,” he said.

“Life can change in an instant.”

He said that the boy’s father, Simon Tadros, lost his wife and prayed for his son to wake up soon from his coma.

“He doesn’t even have time to grieve,” he said.

“He needs to be next to his son’s bed fighting for his life.”
