Police in Leeds, in Yorkshire County, north of England, warned business owners in the area after being warned of a devastating pandemic.

“It has drawn police attention that a new trend has begun by a group of young people called’beaning’,” said Michelle Owens, Morley Police Community Support Officer.

“This includes young people throwing the contents of a can of beans onto a property, which is very similar to the tendency to throw eggs at a property.”

Owens warned local store owners to be aware that young people are buying excessive amounts of beans.

“If you work in a store, be aware that young people buy a lot of cans of beans,” she said.

She also told the young parents to keep an eye on the cans of beans that were missing from the pantry.

“If you have children in your house, be careful if you see a can of beans being taken out of your family’s house.”

After being shared on Twitter, the story received a cheerful reaction, with several civilian comedians jumping on the occasion of a pun.

“Ketch up. This Heinz has been going on for years,” one joked.

“Does beans mean fine?” Another added, referring to the tagline “beans mean Heinz.”

Someone else simply said the police should “Heinz cuff them.”
