The Bulldog was added to the 2022 roster under the signature of Forward John Asiata on a one-year contract.
28-year-old Asiata traveled from Brisbane to Belmore, spending a season at Red Hill and playing 10 games under Kevin Walters.
Unfortunately, the neck injury in the 15th round and subsequent surgery ended the Asianta season early.
Utility Forward previously spent seven years in North Queensland playing 128 games, including winning the 2015 Grand Finals, in Townsville-based costumes.
Commonly used off-bench at club level, Asiata has represented both Tonga and Samoa internationally.
Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton talked about the post-announcement signature.
“By signing someone for John’s experience and versatility next season, we believe we’ve found a great addition to the club,” Warburton said.
“By adding forwards such as Tevita Pangai Jr., Paul Vaughn and Josh Cook, and maintaining a strong core from the current team, John will bring a level of skill and leadership that greatly complements the group. think.
“John is also very active in his work in the community, which is very important to us.
“We are really excited about the team we got together and can’t wait to meet together before the season.”
As Trent Barrett continues his efforts to turn the club around, Asiata will join many players heading to Woodspoon next season.
Josh Addo-Carr, Matt Burton, Tevita Pangai Junior, Matt Dufty, Brent Naden and Paul Vaughan will all be joining the bulldog next season.
Adam Elliot, Lachlan Lewis, Nick Meaney, Dylan Napa and Will Horport all played their final match at the club.
