There was something around the NBA today, and nine-game slate offered a ton of dunk of the year candidates.
It’s been less than a week since the season started.
Featuring the usual suspects of Jaylen Brown, Miles Bridges and John Collins, a surprise slam from Lauri Marc Kannen made Monday’s action an average mixtape.
Let’s disassemble them.
Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics
Perhaps the best of the night was Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown burning the timeline with a dunk shot against Charlotte Hornets.
With just over a minute left in overtime, Brown was tied to a jetpack, and the Hornets created a new phone wallpaper with this highlighted one-handed jam, despite Miles Bridges’ best efforts.
From one high flyer to another, Bridges handed Brown a prop after the match.
Also, every time you go down 3 in overtime, or whenever you play a game on the line, imma jump !!

Miles Bridges, Charlotte Hornets
Don’t lose …. If you don’t have at least one rim effort up from Miles Bridges, you won’t be a Charlotte Hornets game.
Early in the game, the recently named Eastern Conference Player of the Week collected this showtime pass from LaMelo Ball, focused only on the rims, and the Celtics’ three for a powerful one-handed slam. I went straight to the defender.
Lauri Markkannen, Cleveland Cavaliers
Lauri Markkannen and poster dunks aren’t usually the same sentence, but the Cavaliers forward can easily claim night play with this effort against the Denver Nuggets.
In the first minute of the game, he picked up a pass from Nikola Jokić and pushed the ball onto the court. As Jokić waited at the edge, he took the elevator upstairs and threw it across the dominant MVP.
John Collins, Atlanta Hawks
Does the NBA currently have a better Alley-oop finisher than John Collins?
The Hawks giant, who had a habit of showing the impossible easily, played against the Detroit Pistons tonight.
Collins plunged on the wrong pass, raced and handed the ball to Trae Young, who found Kevin Huerter. He found Collins running towards the hoop and threw it, letting Collins do what he was best at.
Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves sophomore finds that his best athleticism is routinely on the almost unmatched highlight reels.
For the New Orleans Pelican, he carried it from shore to shore, slalomed around Kira Luis Jr., then stood up and launched onto Trey Murphy III.
Brandon Ingram, New Orleans Pelican
In that same game, Brandon Ingram added his name to this one-handed conversation with Slam.
Just minutes after Edwards’ jam, Ingram took it right with his previous overall first-place pick and dunked with one hand.
Which was the best dunk of the day?
