Callum Ilott of Ferrari Driver Academy lost his last remaining F1 seat at Alfa Romeo and signed a full-time fight in IndyCar in 2022.
Prior to the start of the series’ third season finale on Long Beach, Ilot confirmed that he would continue Yunkos Holinger Racing for the full season next year.
“As we enter the final weekend of the three races on the West Coast, we are happy to announce that we will continue Yunkos Holinger Racing for the 2022 NTT IndyCar Series season next year,” said Ilot.
“Obviously, in the last few races there was a steep learning curve to try to put everything together. We have some real positive aspects and we know we need to work on it. . “
“Since Ricardo Junkos and Brad Holinger know what they can do next season, especially in the winter of what they can do in the test, we are confident that we will be in the best position to start the 2022 season powerfully. . “
“We look forward to continuing the work we are doing and embarking on a new journey here for the winter. Thanks to the Ferrari Driver Academy for taking this opportunity.”
Ricardo Juncos, owner of Yunkos Holinger Racing, is looking forward to joining the team full-time in 2022 with the young Brit, who finished second in last year’s F2 Championship.
“We are very pleased to announce Callum to the team full-time for the 2022 NTT IndyCar Series season,” Junkos said.
“His maturity, good speed and feedback are amazingly good for turning 22.”
“I was very impressed with his feedback and Calm’s condition after Laguna. After a long and tough race in Laguna, he got out of the car and didn’t even see any signs of fatigue. Laguna was a perfect green. Given that it was a flag race, the carm proved to be incredible. “
“We know it’s not the fastest car on the truck and there’s a lot to do, but Calm pushed himself to get everything out of the car and showed great speed.”
“Over the past few weeks, Calm has shown that he is the right driver for next year’s full-time run, so I’m excited to get him into the program full-time.”
“We have time to build programs in all areas, test development as a team and continue. Thanks to Callum for committing to the new NTT IndyCar Series program, full time as a team next year. I look forward to your efforts. “
Due to pandemic concerns, Yunkos Holinger Racing returned to the IndyCar Series in the last three races of the season, ahead of the start of the season in 2020.
