Glebe tobacco shop owner arrested on suspicion of sexually touching a woman

A tobacco shop owner in Glebe, in Sydney’s inner west, is set to appear in court on Friday after he allegedly sexually touched a woman who entered his business.

A 23-year-old woman was at Freechoice Tobacconist on Glebe Point Road around 3:30 pm on Tuesday.

The next day, officers from the Reichhardt Police Regional Command were informed of the alleged sexual contact.

Police launched an investigation.

After an investigation, detectives went to Freechoice Tobacconist on Thursday and arrested the 68-year-old man who was the business owner.

The man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with sexually touching another person without their consent.

The Glebe man was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Downing Center District Court on Friday.
