Melbourne: 12 cars collide on Glen Waverley’s Monash Freeway

Traffic on one of Melbourne’s busiest highways came to a halt after 11 cars collided, closing multiple lanes and hospitalizing four people before a public holiday.

Police are currently investigating a crash that occurred Monday at 7:15 pm on the Monash Freeway in Glen Waverley.

A B double truck and 11 passenger cars are understood to have collided near Blackburn Rd.

The truck driver stopped at the scene and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Three others were taken to hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

The three up lanes before Warrigal Rd were closed, only one lane remained open and the speed limit was set at 40 km/h.

A VicTraffic spokesperson confirmed to NCA NewsWire that all lanes were open as of Tuesday morning.

A Victoria Police spokesman said the circumstances of the crash are currently under investigation.
