United Airlines announces increased non-stop flights between Australia and US

The expansion of the largest US-to-US South Pacific air network in history has been announced, with Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne among the big winners, giving Australians more options when flying direct to the US.

In late 2023, United Airlines will add non-stop flights between various locations in California and the east coast of Australia.

United Airlines has more than tripled its direct flights to Brisbane as part of its expansion.

New Zealand will also benefit from more direct flights to and from the US later this year.

This means a 40% increase in airline flights between the US and Australia-New Zealand.

“This winter, United strengthened its network to become the largest airline in the South Pacific region,” said Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of global network planning and alliances.

“Now, this winter, we will expand further.”

He said United Airlines’ “strong partnerships” with Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia offer “unparalleled connectivity”.

Tickets are sold for passengers to book in advance.

On November 29, United will become the largest airline between the Queensland capital and the United States by adding three weekly flights between Brisbane and Los Angeles.

There will be two daily flights between San Francisco and Sydney on October 28th.

Last year, United increased its weekly flights between the United States and Melbourne from 10 to 14 weekly flights, and one daily flight from San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Beginning October 28, United Airlines will operate its largest aircraft, the 777-300ER, between Melbourne and San Francisco, adding approximately 100 seats per departure.

Other flights from New Zealand

New Zealand will also benefit from more direct flights to San Francisco and Los Angeles.

United Airlines will add four weekly flights to Los Angeles to establish itself as the largest U.S. airline to operate flights to Oakland.

Additional flights will take off from October 28.

United Airlines already offers a route between Oakland and San Francisco and will soon offer direct flights from Christchurch to San Francisco.

Flights from the South Island will begin on December 1, offering three flights per week.
