Bridal fashion is always changing, so as we approach the warmer months, let’s take a look at what’s trending this wedding season — you might be surprised by an unexpected deviation from tradition.
What has been billed as the ultimate bridal experience has arrived in WA with the opening of the first True Society bridal store in Perth — and it’s truly a match made in bridal heaven.
True Society, a global bridal retail collective, has teamed up with bridal expert and owner of Leederville store Tuscany Bridal Michelle Harris to transform her store into True Society by Tuscany Bridal.
As we approach the warmer months and prime wedding season, Ms Harris has revealed some of the hottest trends brides are loving.
“There’s a variety in looks this season which speaks to people’s individuality, whether they want boho, beach, simple or ultra-glam,” she said.
“Black is coming through, which is something unexpected and a bit different.
“Being in bridal for 30 years, I’ve seen a lot of different trends. I remember the Princess Diana puffy silk sleeves. Now we’ve got some sleeves similar but done in a different fabric and different way.”
Black wedding gowns
While this glamorous statement is not for everybody, it’s a daring glam look for a bride who wants to be unique.
“You don’t have to be traditional just because you’re getting married,” Ms Harris said.
“I had a bride in recently, and her and her partner were doing a colour swap.”
This Martina Liana gown features exquisite sparkly detail, balloon sleeves, a sexy split and a flowing train.
The sleeves are even detachable for when the party kicks off later in the evening.
Detachable accessories
Overskirts, belts, sleeves and gloves are making a statement on the bridal scene, allowing brides to wear multiple looks throughout their day.
Overskirts allow for a full ballgown look at the ceremony and a more fitted gown at the reception.
“It’s all about creating different looks with accessories, veils — come in with a big skirt and take it off for a slim skirt underneath,” Ms Harris said.
“It enhances photos and is exciting for guests to see how a dress and bride transition through the day or evening.
“It’s a comfort thing as well. Take the skirt off to dance more and enjoy the party afterwards.”
Pearls and beading
Show your bridal personality with some playful pearls and beaded detailing.
Ms Harris said pearl details worked well for a clean and chic look.
Located at 347a Oxford Street in Leederville, True Society by Tuscany Bridal stocks wedding gowns by award-winning international bridal labels Essense of Australia, Stella York, Martina Liana, Martina Liana Luxe, All Who Wander and Oxford Street.
