Former Today show producer faces jury trial on rape charges

A former Today show producer who denied raping a woman will be tried before a jury, a court heard Tuesday.

Tom Nicholl stepped out on court at Sydney’s Downing Center in a navy suit, pink tie, and glasses.

He sat in silence during the day’s proceedings, except for standing up to respond when he was charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

“Not guilty, honorable,” said Mr. Nicol.

The alleged incident occurred at Mr Nichol’s Bondi home in January 2021.

The court heard jurors will be appointed later in the week.

The trial is likely to last about seven to 10 days, defense attorney Phillip Boulten SC told the court.

Nicole was indicted last February and has consistently denied the allegations.

After being indicted, he left Channel 9 and the Today program where he was a supervising producer hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Alison Langdon.
