F2 driver escapes serious injury

By Josh Nevett

Both Formula Two drivers Enzo Fittipaldi and Theo Pruscia escaped a nasty start-line collision without serious injury. The former has recovered from a fractured heel in Saudi Arabia at the hospital.

At the start of the F2 feature race at the Jeddah Cornish circuit, Pourchaire stalled from the start line and was then pushed from behind by the undoubted Fittipaldi, flagging the race red and sending both to the hospital for inspection.

A few days later, both drivers provided the latest information on their condition.

“Hey everyone, I’m so grateful that I broke my heel and suffered some cuts and bruises,” Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi, wrote on Twitter. ..

“Thanks to the message and the FIA and medical staff for taking care of me.

“I’m very happy that Theo is okay. I’ll be back on track soon and faster than ever.”

Fittipaldi’s brother Pietro also thanked Enzo for his support.

“Thank you for your message,” Pietro posted on his Twitter account.

“Enzo is conscious and is recovering in the hospital.

“He has a broken right heel and is doing much better than we expected.

“Thanks to the FIA, the team and all the doctors and experts here in Saudi Arabia.”

Fittipaldi will almost certainly miss the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi this weekend.

Pourchaire, on the other hand, could recover in time, and the French say they were doing well after the smash.

“Hello everyone. I just wanted to say I’m fine worldwide,” Pourchaire posted on Twitter.

“For now, I don’t know if it’s the end of the season for me.

“But the most important thing is not that. It’s really big and Enzo is injured.

“I wish him the best possible recovery.”

In assessing the incident, Pourchaire and fellow F2 driver Jake Hughes believed that the stall prevention system was able to prevent the incident from occurring.

“This is unacceptable without anti-stall. We could have avoided it,” Pourchaire said.

Hughes, who participated in the rounds at Monza and Sochi Autodrom, also participated.

“Hoping Theo and Enzo are okay,” said the Britons.

“I think it’s time to anti-stall these cars. That should have avoided the crash.”

The finale of the F2 season will be held at the Yasmarina Circuit from December 10th to 12th, with Australian Oscar Piastri aiming to conclude the title.
