“The driver was immediately accompanied by paramedics and medical services,” Formula 2 said in a statement.

“The driver was conscious and released by the medical staff in charge. Both were transferred by ambulance and helicopter to the Kingfahad Military Hospital in Jeddah.”

“Theo is fine and has no fractures,” Alfa Romeo F1 boss Frederick Vasul told AFP journalists on the starting grid of the F1 Grand Prix.

The Formula 2 race was quickly flagged in red and the rest of the field returned to the pits.

It resumed after 40 minutes, another accident occurred, and the red flag ended prematurely. Australian Oscar Piastri has declared a winner as the world title approaches.

Born in Miami in July 2001, Enzo Fittipaldi graduated from Kart in 2021 after passing Formula 3 levels at Charlows Racing.

In September, he stepped up to Formula 2 later in the season and made his debut with the Czech team Charouz in Monza.

He finished 7th in Jeddah’s Race 2 on Saturday, scoring his first point in F2.

He was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy from 2017 to 2020. His grandfather Emerson won two F1 World Championships at Lotus in 1972.

Enzo’s brother Pietro, 25, made his F1 debut with Haas at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix on behalf of the injured Romain Grosjean.
