According to Deputy Chief Health Officer Sonya Bennett, three of the doctor’s close contacts were tested as “most reassuring” negative as of Sunday.

There is also concern that a second Hotel Grand Chancellor guest who was virus-positive on day 12 may have been infected with the same strain at the hotel.

They are staying on the same hotel floor as in the first case, and authorities are scrutinizing security footage to determine if there is a chain of transmission.

“This is one of several possible options for explaining the identified case (on Saturday),” said Dr. Bennett.

“I think they could have had a very slow incubation period, but we know it’s possible. There may be similar sources from abroad. , May have been sent to the hotel quarantine. “

The same hotel was the center of Brisbane’s three-day blockade in January. As a result, the facility will be closed for 72 hours, guests will not be able to leave until Wednesday, and no more guests will be admitted.

As of Sunday, there are 36 active COVID-19 cases in the state.
