Man, 20s, rushed to hospital after suspected stingray attack

A man has been rushed to hospital after a suspected stingray attack at a popular beach in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Paramedics were called to Queens Beach at Vaucluse about 2pm on Wednesday after a reports a man had been bitten.

A man aged in his 20s was treated at the scene for injuries to his left foot, before being taken to St Vincent Hospital.

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the man had received a sting or bite suspected to be from a stingray, not a shark.

A 2017 report found that between 2013 and 2016 there had been 116 incidents involving stingrays, secondly only to bluebottles.
