“The sugar needs to be heated to about 145 ° C,” said Dr. Jives.

“Contact with very hot and sticky liquids can cause severe burns.”

This is not the first time a child has been hospitalized for a challenge.

Just last month Three children were hospitalized A children’s hospital in Westmead, Sydney, was burned by handling a hot honeycomb.

All three children require continuous treatment, with injuries ranging from mild burns to nerve injuries.

One of those patients was 14-year-old Aiden Higgy from Ride. He burned his hands and suffered deep burns and nerve injuries to his legs.

His mother, Helen, said doctors were afraid that Aiden would need skin grafts because the burns were so severe that he had to spend the next year in pressure bandages.

She said she was in another room when the cup of hot liquid “exploded” in her son’s hands.

“It’s shocking that a simple act like making a honeycomb can have such serious consequences,” Higgy said.

“Many children of his age are watching squid games.

“It was so popular that Aiden was trying to recreate the engraved honeycomb. He looked up on TikTok on how to make it.”
