Robbie Peck, victim of Port Hedland shark attack, remains in stable condition while recovering in hospital

A father of three who was bitten by a shark in Port Hedland remains stable in hospital.

Robbie Peck was attacked by what authorities suspected to be a bull shark on Friday morning while spearfishing with friends near his boat just off the Pilbara coast.

Chief Engineer of the Pilbara Ports Authority, Mr Peck, was taken by police, paramedics and friends to Hedland Health Campus for treatment after the boat docked at Richardson Pier.

He was then taken by ambulance to a waiting Royal Flying Doctor Service plane and taken to the Royal Perth Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

A spokeswoman for Royal Perth Hospital said on Saturday that it was unclear at this stage whether further surgery would be required.

Peck is in stable condition and will remain in the hospital for at least one more day until he recovers.

An RFDS spokesperson said Peck suffered “multiple injuries to his arm.”
