The Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series has become one of the biggest poachers to date, with the addition of four-time major champion Brooks Koepka and top 20 star Abraham Ansel.

Koepka, along with Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed, will be attending the first LIV Golf Event in the United States starting July 1st in Portland, Oregon.

With his and Ansel’s signature, LIV Golf has become eight of the top 50 in the world.

“I’m at the US Open,” Koepka said last week in a question about LIV Golf.

“I’m ready to play the National Open. I’m a little disappointed. You’re throwing this black cloud at the National Open. It’s one of my favorite events.

“I don’t know why you guys keep doing that. More legs you give. [LIV Golf], The more I keep talking about it. “

Koepka won the US Open and the PGA Championship twice each and finished second in the 2019 Masters.

Greg Norman states that LIV will be applied to the Official World Golf Ranking Board, allowing its players to earn ranking points. Otherwise, they will have difficulty playing majors in the future.

The LIV is funded by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (in effect, the country itself), which has been criticized by golfers for participating in sportswashing efforts given Saudi Arabia’s horrific human rights records.
