The man renamed his new lover’s contact to “Mark” over the phone just before his green-eyed ex-partner chopped him up with an ax.

A 34-year-old Sydney woman cannot name her child to identify her.

“It’s clear that the deceased’s senseless death had a profound impact on those who loved him,” Supreme Court Justice Natalie Adams said in the women’s ruling on Friday.

“No sentence could ease the grief of those close to him.”

She pleaded guilty to murdering her longtime partner as she lay looking at her iPad in her Sydney townhouse in September 2020.

The woman had previously done a Google search on murder, such as “Which part of the body should you aim for when killing a person with an axe?”

At the time, she was subject to an AVO after her partner told police she stabbed him with a meat cleaver, but he had three convictions, including one for assaulting her.

The pair’s on-and-off relationship was “volatile” and “marred by domestic violence,” the judge found.

He was convicted of assaulting her in 2010, 2011 and March 2019.

Victim described her as violent and abusive

According to the agreed-upon affair facts, he was with another woman when his ex-partner called and sent him a message.

He explained to the woman that it was his ex-partner who was violent, abusive and dangerous.

“She hit me with a big machete. She’s violent,” he said.

She sent 19 text messages to the effect that he was having sex with someone and tried to call him between 5:30 am and about 1:00 pm.

Prior to the murder, she conducted further searches, such as “where is the fastest body part to kill a person with an axe?”

In the evening, she hails a taxi to take her to Bunnings, asks the driver to wait, goes inside, and buys a Trojan-brand half-axe.

She later sent a text stating:

She went to the police station and confessed to the murder, but told a series of lies, including that her partner had made a knife.

He was found dead with multiple cuts to his head.

The woman appeared in court via video link and showed little emotion during the sentencing.

She will be eligible for parole in November 2039.
