T20 World Cup: Meg Lanning praised after setting new record

In the wake of Australia’s spectacular sixth T20 World Cup triumph in cricket history, there is no World Cup trophy like Meglaning, who has been hailed as “one of the greatest leaders not only in cricket, but in sport”. No captain lifted the

Lanning, one of the world’s most successful national teams in sports, has managed five World Cup victories, including two in the last 12 months, more than any other man or woman. Thing.

Last year, Lanning won two trophies at the World Cup, won his first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, and took six months of voluntary leave.

But after leading Australia for almost a decade, the 30-year-old returned to Australia thriving, leading a team driven by a culture of ‘egos in check’, and now has her own place in cricket history. He holds his position, ahead of fellow Australian Ricky Ponting. She won most of the World Cups as captain.

“When Meg retires, hopefully she won’t last another few years…she will make a name for herself as one of the greatest leaders, not only in cricket, but in sport, but in general.” Beth Mooney said she beat South Africa.

“I think she has a great cricket brain. As a cricketer, I’ve had a lot of experience, so I understand how people feel in certain situations.

“So absolutely, she’s going to be one of the greatest players of all time for our team and we’re so lucky to have her on board.

Veteran seamer Megan Schutt said Running’s pre-game rev-up in Cape Town epitomized what the opportunity meant for the captain and her ability to capture it for the team.

“She’s a pretty mild character, so I think she’s rubbing against us,” Schutt said.

“She expresses this composure. I mean, her chat before this game was cool because it was a little more ampy and there were some curses in it – Meg doesn’t curse too much.” I won’t say – so that was really cool.

“It ended with ‘Let’s go’… I don’t say the actual words, I’ll be in trouble, but when she swears, it just builds that vitality.

“She’s been a leader for so long that she knows what it takes for people to be successful, whether individually or as a team.”

Australia have now won six of the last eight T20 World Cup titles, including the last three, making them the first team to win both the ODI World Cup and Commonwealth Games gold medal titles.

Lanning has now led Australia to four T20 World Cup titles and one ODI World Cup title, collecting more ICC tournament victories than any other captain in men’s or women’s cricket.

But according to Mooney, the thirst for titles is inexhaustible. Because this Australian team wants to win ‘as long as it’s there’.

“We never get tired of it. What we talk about as a group is to make sure we’re constantly evolving,” she said.

“We have seen teams from all over the world get better and better year after year in this tournament.

“People are watching what we do and how we do it. So it won’t last forever, but hopefully we can have fun for as long as we can and keep racking up trophies and having fun. What’s amazing?”

Mooney said the key to the Australian team’s success was the idea that ‘we are all here for the greater good’, with the team taking precedence over the individual in all cases.

It came to the fore in the final, frustrated and feeling like she was struggling with 25 runs off 25 balls early in the innings, Mooney suggested coach Sherry Nitschke should retire her.

However, the message was sent to Drink Carriers and never reached the coaches, leaving Mooney undefeated for 74 out of 53 deliveries.

“I actually asked one of the girls who ran if I could ask Shell if she wanted to retire because I was hitting so hard,” Mooney said.

“It didn’t work for the shell.

“I think I’m trying to be able to fight with guts. I can probably get through some tough innings that don’t feel so good, but maybe the team will be able to go beyond the line they’re playing. I can.

“So I still have a few years left and hopefully I can score a few more times, but I love it now and like I said, it’s an absolute privilege to wear an Australian shirt every morning. Get up.”
