Kiama, NSW: Drowning tragedy on the south coast of NSW

A man has been dragged to his death from a rockpool in Kiama on the south coast of New South Wales.

Passers-by desperately tried to save the man by performing CPR before paramedics from the NSW Ambulance arrived, but he was unable to resuscitate him.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was pulled from the water at about 5:40 pm on Monday at Blowhole Point Road in Kiama.

Officers affiliated with the Lake Illawarra Police Department were present and began investigating the incident.

A report will be generated with the coroner’s information.

This is the latest drowning in what has been a tragic summer in Australian waters. According to Royal Life Saving Australia, at least 61 people have drowned, the majority (28) of them living in New South Wales.
