According to the report, 27.6 million people are in forced labour, and the Asia-Pacific region has more than half of the world’s population (15.1 million) in forced labour.

Furthermore, it was found that 86% of forced labor cases occurred in the private economy, while the remaining 14% were forced labor by the state.

The report also says the number of people living in forced marriages has increased by 6.6 million globally between 2016 and 2021, bringing the total to 22 million. An estimated 14.2 million people are forced into marriage in the Asia-Pacific region.
