“Unfortunately, the man became unresponsive and could not be resuscitated. He died at the scene,” WA Police said in a statement.

Male colleagues and emergency services volunteers helped retrieve instructors, students and teachers from the bottom of the cave.

Police will notify WorkSafe of the incident and prepare a report for the coroner.
