Australian NBA basketball star Josh Giddey helps Oklahoma City Thunder defeat the Denver Nuggets before the season

Australian basketball star Josh Giddey won the NBA for the first time with more American fans helping Oklahoma City Thunder defeat the Denver Nuggets on Thursday (AEDT).

Thunder chose 19-year-old Guidi in Pick 6 of the 2021 NBA Draft and has played all three of Thunder’s preseason games ever since.

Gidi lost to Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks earlier this month, similarly affecting the 108-99 win, scoring 14 points with 3 assists, 6 rebounds and stealing from 31 minutes of game time.

In a balanced contest, Guidi felt his influence later in the film — Thunder players didn’t score any more points in the final quarter.

Former Adelaide 36ers guards said they were pleased that Thunder maintained a three-quarter time lead and played his part in winning.

“It was very pleasant. Two big losses, we learned from those losses. We’re lucky that it’s still pre-season, as we still have a lot to work on.”

“I’m glad to see the progress from the Milwaukee match to this tonight. It’s really nice to finish it like the young guys on the floor.”

Gidi said there is still a long way to go to realize his potential.

“It’s hard for young children to get into the NBA,” he said.

“Athletes and their sizes take time. It won’t be perfect right away, and I learned it. I’ve had a hard time in the lane and maybe made a decision too early. I tried to be a little late tonight. “

Guidy doesn’t have much time to celebrate the victory — Thunder will face the Nuggets again on Friday morning (AEDT). Gidi said he welcomed a quick turnaround.

“I’m looking forward to it. The NBA season is grinded and there are 82 games. I’ve never played anything close to that,” he said.

“It helps you back-to-back to see where you are about fitness, whether you can play the full game, or what you’re doing with it.

“It will be a good test for me and others on Denver’s quality team.”

Guidy’s skills continue to impress American NBA professionals.

The Nuggets are hungry to bounce — despite finishing the 2020/21 season as a conference semi-finalist, Michael Malone hasn’t yet won the preseason.
