According to Tim Wilson, Deputy Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reduction, Australia needs to “fight hard” to get good results from the Glasgow Climate Change Conference.
“Actually, it’s a meeting about a rulebook on how to account for things like greenhouse gas emissions,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“But there is still no agreement on that, and we have to fight hard just to get good results, not only for Australia but for the world as well.
Wilson said Australia will promise net zero to the conference by 2050, but the country produces only 1 percent of world emissions.
“It’s not an argument that we don’t do anything, but it does mean that we rely on other countries to come and contribute to the table.”
